If you are looking for a car with outstanding fuel economy, as well as state of the art cabin technology, Audi A3 2.0 TDI is the best choice. It boasts of 40 mpg fuel economy which is very notable unlike fuel cars that perished under the emission regulations passed by the government of United States of America. As a result of this, diesel cars vanished from the roads as automobile companies halted their production of diesel automobiles. The bottom line is that, A3 is the new face of diesel cars and does a pretty good job at it.
The year 2010 has marked the release of a variety of Audi’s Models; Audi A3 2.0 TDI has been pushed to the end of the line, although it is the most fuel economic car ideal for recession time. But unfortunately, A3 seems to be lacking its navigation electronics, which comprises of a DVD based navigation which is time consuming and difficult to handle. Sometimes the S-tronic transmission doesn’t respond too well. Audi models are popular for Wi-Fi cabin electronics, but A3 does not exemplify this with the basic DVD based navigation that comes with an LCD.
Audi A3 2.0 TDI looks like any other Audi model irrespective of the fuel engine type, but as you pump up the engine you can feel a distinctive and screeching noise which marks the start of the diesel engine. This is followed by a light odor emanating from the engine that smells like sulphur fumes and comes out of the exhaust pipe. Surprisingly, the odor and the noise do not invade the double insulated cabin. If you are looking beyond the two liter capacity, four cylinder engines that is fueled with the low cost diesel, you will find features like transmission which can be operated in three modes, Automated, Manual and Sport. While operating the dual clutch transmission in the manual mode, one is required to change the gears more often.
The sports mode is not ideal for driving in a congested traffic and one can feel the hiccups in the engine as it tries to maneuver the abrupt halts on the rural roads especially during rush hour traffic. But Audi A3 2.0 TDI still has plenty of features to boast about with fuel economy that ranges from 30mpg for the city roads and 42 mpg on the freeways. And Audi A3 2.0 TDI could do better, with the start-stop technology for transmission that is the latest trend with automobile manufacturers from around the globe.
