Milan Fashion Week – A huge debacle

Fire sparks flew all over Milan’s 2008 Winter/autumn Fashion collection week. “Circus without Sense”, the regular name given to Milan’s Fashion week by Gabbana & Dolce between fears that it is rapidly leaving itself behind London & Paris as the most sought after destination for haute couture network.

This years edition of Italy’s most auspiciuos fashion event, which finished today, saw the must long delays, ugly catfights and chaotic organisation. Top show men and women should their ugly behaviour in this professional environment.

Large number of shows were scheduled and completed in the first week of this event for the fear that all the top fashion editors would leave Milan before the finishing of the fashion week. The original schedule had about 103 catwalks all scheduled to cover over a week plus some days time, which featured different designers and brands that numbered to around 95.

There was a huge jam of catwalks and shows at the very beginning of the week casuing havoc. This was the result of many requests like that of the editor of american Vogue, Anna Wintour, who asked Versace, Dolce & Gabbana and Armani to prepone their shows so that she could get back to america before paris vogue week which beings by next Tuesday.

Adding to the chaos, this rescheduling and shuffling of shows caused the much criticism from big designers like Dolce & Gabbana who claimed that the prestige of Milan Fashion week was at stake and that the future of this event could be disasterous.

Well, lastly, we could only say that besides displaying their vogue talents, these so called “biggies” also showed their true nature of patience.

Graphic Tees – Are they Back in Fashion?

Ironic though, but its the reality. A harsh reality. Most of the fashion designers out there in the market are not for everyone. Most of you might not even able to fit into it, forget about how you look.

With most of us having a shapeless body, the designer wears tend to fit people who have more curvy and sexy body. This reality hides behind the much hype and glory of fashion, so that the designers get more and more customers. But this fact surfaces out when more people come out of their boring life and want to enter the world of fashion.

Well its disappointing and heart breaking, but isn’t there any such designer wear that really caters to people of all shapes? What if i said there is something like that, which is perfect in price, awesome in looks and fall-flat stylish? well i am not joking, we do have such a designer wear that is must to have for your collection. Yes, you guessed it right, its the Graphic Tees!

Logo Tees or Graphic Tees, known by both names, was originally worn by rock bands in late 80’s. These were mark of rockers and musicians, especially the hard metal musicians who looked like punks with tattoo all over their body and jewelry pierced into their body and wearing graphic tees. Although today, the graphic images and work that is found on these T-shirts has improved and become more artistic and imaginative. They are also sometimes aimed at carrying a message to the world on a particular occasion. T

And the easiest and best part of these Graphic Tees is that they go along with any pair of jeans, irrespective of color and brand. The jeans and Tees form a great combination. Graphic Tees are so famous and regular among the people that irrespective of whether a person is a celebrity or not, you will find everybody wearing it. These Tees carry images of all sorts, skulls, arts, wings, etc and clever slogans and statements or as we put it “Expressions”.

Another reason why these printed t-shirts are so rocking is because of its versatility. A good printed design on draped knit silhouette with a tight skirt or jeans gives you a sexy look. Dress pack.com brings you a huge selection of stylish printed Tees, tanks and Hoodies that are there to live for; all this at a price you can afford. Another evolution in the world of Tees fashion is that now you can design your own. Many stores gives this awesome feature of designing your own Tees with your chosen images or statements and finally be fully satisfied. Well, what else would you like? Go for it now!

Scottish fashion awards: Beyond tartan!

When Cyd Charisse (may she rest in peace) danced across the misty glens of “Brigadoon” with Gene Kelly back in 1954, Scotland—and Scottish fashion—was a flurry of tartan. How things have changed. At the third annual Scottish Fashion Awards, held at Stirling Castle last night, the only thing that verged on twee was shortbread in the goodie bags. A particular highlight of the evening was the Young Designer of the Year award, with one-to-watch newcomer Graeme Armour winning for his super-lean, über-modern tailoring. House of Holland won the Best Use of Tartan by an International Designer, with Henry Holland accepting the award sporting a shock of lightning blond to complement a fabulously electric blue tartan jacket.

Designer of the Year went once again to Scotland’s darling, Christopher Kane, who said, “It’s really great for Scottish designers to have a platform not only in London, but here in Scotland as well.” And one that happily appears more than once every 100 years.

You can wear it twice – Officially!

There was a time when celebrities of fashion industry used to be so conscious about their dresses that they would wear a new design nearly every day. Sometimes, they would even change their clothes multiple times in a day so that they don’t get a look from the front row audience. That was the time no too far away. Few like Della Russo of vogue would run between shows to change her clothes which happened during the menswear season this year.

However, things have changed now. Rather than following the same trend, Emmanuelle, the paris vogue stylist who is considered the sacred figure for designer inspiration, kicked that trend in roland mouret’s collection by appearing in the exact same trouser’s (zebra-print Balmain cropped) that she wore at monday’s christian dior haute couture show. She dint stop here. She even clubbed it with identical azzedine lace up stilettos that carine roitfeld was wearing that day. The same that both wore on monday.

Now this reminds us of what? Well ladies, before you shell money out for new designer clothes, its officially fine to repeat your favourite designs. This comes directly from the biggies in the fashion field!

The Formula: Global + Local = Glocal

Jodhpurs with body-skimming top. Abbreviated kurta with cool capris. Floor grazing skirts with cling-fit jacket…Its fashion’s new success formula! Mix Global with the local in an imaginative way to get the Glocal look. and its working. Because more and more people are travelling continents, switching homes and juggling cultures.

“Glocal is the synergy between fashion and lifestyle with a unifying vision of the way the contemporary urban consumer lives and dresses – whether in New york or in south africa or in Malaysia or in India. People are globe-trotting. The world is coming closer, and so are lifestyles. for a designer, it has become important to unify a client’s different needs,” says famous design duo abraham and nicole.

The glocalisation of fashion comes from the interplay of diverse influences. “Design is no longer about drawing from a single reference. It has become multi-referential. Fashion has steam rolled ahead. Global reference no longer means hot pressing crystals on your gowns. It now means watching global trends carefully and incorporating them in a subtle way to suit local sensibility. Besides, i feel this whole glocal trend stems from the desire to look different. Designers experiment with styles and clients are too willing to try them out. everyone has become particular about the look. see fashion diva, kate moss, she can carry off Gucci trousers with a kimono-style top and an african print bag. It’s all about putting toghether a look,” explains designer nikisha.

Just saunter into any of the boutiques, you will see wearable versions of international catwalk looks. Fashion, its clear, has scaled boundaries and style has broken away from its moorings. So the next time you see a friend in a cropped tank, flared with some international tribal wear or chinese silk stole, remember its part of the fashion latest global-local tour. And if you dont like it, dont worry. Fashion is as fickle as the stock market. What goes up, will come down!

Is Designer Wear the only Option?

With designer-like clothes available for less than $10, why should a person buy the branded designer wear? Well i need not go into complexities of this if i am addressing a out and out designer freak. The Questions you ask are self answered, you the reason you need it, you also know what you need and you also know where to get it from!

However, for those who consider shelling out huge amount for some branded designer expensive jeans or the sexy looking silk top, its probably not so easy. In those money crisis days, wouldn’t you want to go for something that is value to money but at the same time it should not compromise with the design?

The advantage of branded designer clothing is that is gives a mark of dressing amongst the people. You feel cool and active about yourself and your self confidence booms to sky. All this because you are wearing those extra expensive designer wear. That brand makes you look fashionable and everybody has eyes on your clothing. Truly branded designer wear can cause great difference to a persons confidence.

Well, what if you find a clothing store, shopping mall where you get same designer wear, with brand stuck on it but in reality, its a duplicate of the original, looking exactly the same and costing 1/10th of the originals price. My question to you is, would you buy it? Would you rather shell out few dollars than those many dollars? Believe me, no one says no to this idea except those who were born with silver spoon in their mouth. Getting a duplicate of the original can also be used to fool others. When you wear it and go out, People would never in their dreams realize that its a fake. However, the reality is, it is fake. As far as self confidence is pumping, i don’t think there should be problems in this.

So instead of always trying to buy those expensive branded designer wear, sometimes try to go for those duplicates. They surely will resolve your problems. And you know what, you find several clothing store and clothes shopping centers where duplicates are sold by peanuts.

Hoodies are in Style for Both Men and Women

Hooded sweatshirts, often referred to as “hoodies” now hold a permanent place in fashion. The hoodie was a piece of clothing that started out primarily as workout wear. Now you can find hoodies made by famous clothing designers and ranging in price as high as the hundreds of dollars for some designs. Why has the hoodie become so popular? Let’s take a look at who wears them the most.

The hoodie is definitely geared toward the younger generation. The urban clothing industry is definitely in the lead for the creation and marketing of hoodies. The trend can be traced back to rappers who wore them as a way of looking sinister. Now the trend has taken off and any urban clothing enthusiast would have at least one hoodie in their wardrobe. Famous hoodie brands include Christian Audigier, LRG, and BAPE (Bathing Ape). These clothing designers know what the young crowd want – unique designs that give the individual a sense of personal style.

Hoodies are no longer just popular for males. Clothing designers have created hoodies that fit the frame of young women as well. They do not fit large and bulky the way most men prefer their hoodies. Hoodies for women are made to fit a woman’s frame to still accentuate her figure. The urban look of the hoodie compliments both men and women when wearing a cool pair of jeans and some fly kicks.

The hoodie is not limited just to the urban clothing scene. Surfers and skateboarders are big fans of the hoodie as well. It is not uncommon to see both surfers and skateboarders sporting their favorite brand of hoodies on the beach or at the skate park. Popular brands for these hoodies include Element, Billabong, and Hurley. Not only are hoodies creating a fashion statement, but they are practical for a surfer who is attempting to stay warm after catching some early morning waves.

Hoodies will also always remain popular among the college crowd. There isn’t a university that you can visit that doesn’t proudly display their college name on a hooded sweatshirt. It is like an unwritten law for college students to own at least one college hoodie.

Some people may find it insane to pay such expensive prices for a hooded sweatshirt. However, you are not only getting a unique design, you are also getting a hoodie made from quality material. These hoodies are not going to fade or lose their stitching after a couple of washes. Hoodies are also no longer just for the young crowd. Men, women, and children of all ages should feel comfortable wearing a stylish hoodie. They are such common pieces of clothing, that you would fit in just fine owning a few of them yourself. Designers create their hoodies in all sizes so finding one for any age group is relatively easy.

If you are worried about paying retail prices, think again. Many major department stores carry top brand hoodies and offer them at sale prices. You just have to be on the lookout for sale days. Even better deals can be found at online stores that specialize in urban clothing. Stay in style and comfort by adding a hoodie or two to your wardrobe.

Embroidered Clothing

There are many different types of clothing in the world today and one type of clothing that is starting to make a comeback is embroidered clothing. Embroidered clothing has been around for hundreds of years now, as different symbols and words have been embroidered into clothing since the technique was developed a long time ago.

However, embroidered clothing has a popularity curve that is really cyclical as people tend to have phases where they like embroidered clothing and phases where they prefer silk screened clothing or even just clothing with plain colors. It really depends on the times, but in the current moment it appears as if embroidered clothing is poised to make an impressive comeback.

Advantages of Embroidered Clothing

Advantages of embroidered clothing are numerous, but the one that has to be most obvious to people that look at embroidered clothing is the quality. Most embroidering is done by hand and for that reason rather than a machine-created contraption along the lines of most of today’s clothing, embroidery on clothing is of a much higher quality and quite often looks better as well. This is one of the reasons to like embroidered clothing and one of the major advantages that it has over the competition.

Another advantage that embroidered clothing has over the competition is the length of time that it can last. When you consider embroidered clothing in the context of durability, embroidery can quite easily outlast silk screening in terms of time. With all of the heavy punishment that clothing takes on a daily basis and the average number of times that it can get washed during the life cycle of the particular piece of clothing in question, it is no wonder that embroidery lasts a lot longer than other methods of imprinting things on clothing.

That last aspect also suggests another advantage of embroidered clothing which is the advantage of value for cost. This advantage is not the advantage of cost, since embroidered clothing is usually more expensive than the competition, but at the same time embroidered clothing will last longer and be more durable over its life cycle which means that it gives you more value for the money. Some people prefer this over strictly looking at cost and for those people embroidered clothing is most definitely the way to go.

The Popularity of Embroidered Clothing

While embroidered clothing has always been around, the cyclical nature of its popularity is something that makes good embroidered clothing hard to find in a number of places. However, the modern day is the day of the internet and for that reason finding good embroidered clothing has become extremely easy because of the number of trustworthy websites that exist online today.

This has perhaps had a positive effect on the rising popularity of embroidered clothing and that ultimately means that the popularity of the clothing this time is probably going to last a lot longer. Keep this in mind when you are considering how much of your wardrobe you want to dedicate to embroidered clothing, because chances are it will make you want to buy more.
